Pet Winter Essentials: Catching up with Bozzy the Dale

Name: Bosworth (Bozzy)
Nicknames: Biggie, Big Bear, Booboo
Age: 3 and a half
Favourite thing to do: Hmmm... I love munching on a bit of horse poo at the Common or jolling in the sea and digging in the dunes at Noordhoek Beach. When I’m not lurking in the kitchen begging for cheese, you’ll find me waking up the whole neighbourhood with my signature air-raid howl — who needs sleep when there’s squirrels to chase?!
How can we catch up with you more regularly? Follow me on IG @bozzythedale.

Winter is coming & the snuggle is real! We turned to Bozzy for help before this isolation turns into ice-olation and he turned-up the heat with his winter must-haves:

Meowzit Pet Pals,

Winter is nearly here, and gosh do we love winter... why? Winter = Rain... and Rain = Mud .... and do we LOVE mud!! But while we are in lockdown this winter, I’ll be sharing my tips to stay warm and cosy at home...

1. Beds!
My second favourite thing to do after eating, is sleeping, and as you know, a dog’s bed is his castle. A soft and fleecy bed is a winter winner! My little brother Alfie, often sneaks into my bed because it’s so big and comfy (even though he has his own bed!!). Mum tucks us in with a soft, fleecy blanket — it’s heaven! I love the Scruffs range — they even have a self-heating thermal bed!! Next level snuggs!! I know what’s going on my winter wish list...

2. Jerseys!
I was blessed with a nice, thick coat that keeps me pretty warm in the colder months, but Alfie is a small dog and he definitely feels the chill. Mum makes him wear a jersey, and he pretends to be embarrassed, but we all know he loves feeling warm and snuggy. Dog’s Life jerseys are stylish and comfy to wear — just don’t put him in anything pink!

3. Toys!
We’re home a lot more these days (I miss the beach!) and Mum has to come up with creative ways to keep us entertained. My favourite toy is my Kong! Mum fills it up with treats and it keeps me busy for ages. It’s also super bouncy and makes for a good game of fetch (though I haven’t quite mastered the art of bringing it back yet). Gotta stay active during lockdown — it keeps me warm, fit and healthy.

4. Comfort food!
When the weather gets colder, the snack drawer gets fuller. I am a big food hound, and will do almost anything for a treat. My faves are Nandi treats — they are all- natural with no added nasties — gotta watch the waistline, I can hide a lot under my thick coat! When it comes to every day food, we looooove Acana. The ingredients are so good & healthy — it’s the only dry food that doesn’t give me an upset tummy (I’m a sensitive boy ok, despite my rugged good looks!)

5. Winter Worries.
For my furry friends that suffer with joint ache especially when the temperature drops — try a joint supplement. There are so many available that really work wonders, I take GCS Joint Care Advanced as a preventative because my breed is big and prone to joint problems.

6. Waterless bathing?!
I’ll play in the sea all day long, but do NOT come near me with a bucket or hose! I haaaate being bathed, it makes me truly miserable. Thank goodness for Hownd Waterless Dog Shampoo — helps to get mud out of my fur while staying dry and comfortable and keeping my beautiful coat in tip-top shape.
