Play with Your Cat!

In addition to sleeping & eating, play is a major part of a cat's life. Playing with your cat strengthens your bond, helps disperse aggression, builds trust and confidence in shy cats and improves inappropriate biting and scratching. Help improve your cats wellbeing by exercising your cats mind and body through setting 10 minutes of playtime aside every day.

Between hiding, chomping, or just getting bored with them, your cat can never have enough toys. Your cat is instinctively curious and naturally playful. Without toys your cats will become bored and will find potentially destructive ways to entertain themselves.

Choosing the right toy

When choosing playthings for your cat, here are a few ideas to help you make your choice.

Interactive toys. Interactive toys serve double duty — they can actually help if your cat has behaviour problems. If your cat has issues with aggression, he/she can act out his/her energy on a toy rather than on you or even your other pets. Similarly, if your cat is depressed or shy he/she will become more alert and trustful during interactive toy play sessions.

Balls. Balls with bells, soft balls, hard balls, and shiny balls…cats just love balls. You will be surprised at how successfully a ball can engage your cat. Be sure to get one that rolls effortlessly & is easy for your cat to handle with his/her paws.

Stick with the classics for a toy your cat will love:

Mice. Little mice are always a huge favourite. Your cat will love to toss and drag them around.

Feathers. Lure in the fun with The Natura Feather Wand. There is something almost mystical about the power a feather has over a cat. This is also great exercise because it involves running, jumping in the air, batting with the paws and crouching.

Something to Chase. Gigwi Owl Melody Chaser Cat Toy is designed for the most curious cats that cannot sit in one place and are always looking to discover something new. This chase-able, paw swatting, luring toy provides exercise and entertainment for your cat.

Be sure to have plenty of toys for your cat and remember to rotate them frequently to keep your cat’s interest. Playtime will keep your cat happy and healthy for as long as he/she is part of your family!
